Sears Tower

We took a little detour to Chicago in order to see the Sears Tower. It is very tall and we took a tour and went up it.

Sears Tower

Sears Tower

We found a picture of the building. It was the only way to take a picture of us and the building at the same time.

Sears Tower

I went far enough away to fit it all in in one picture.

Comparison

This is a comparison of Sears to some other famous buildings

Kirtland Temple

Kirtland Temple

Megan and James

James was not always cooperative, but megan was always quick to help. (Sometimes that made James even more upset) Going on tour with the kids was not usually possible, either we would get our own private tour, or the other tourists had to really concentrate on what the guide was saying.

Newel K. Whitney store

N. K. Whitney store and School of Prophets. This was a neat place to visit.

Kirtland

This looks like the houses in Nauvoo. We haven't developed the pictures we took in Nauvoo yet.

Big bell

Audrey rang the big gong bell.

Niagra Falls

Niagra Falls

These were the main falls. It was so wet in this area, once you got a little closer, that you could bearly see, let alone try to take a picture. The mist comming off the falls soaked us in the few seconds we were at the railing looking over to see the falls.

Hill Cumorah

James had to constantly be watched. He was always running off or getting into or onto somthing.

David

David was even tougher to watch than James, but he taught James the best he could to try to keep up.

Hill Cumorah

Sacred Grove

Here at the grove we took time to ponder what happend here. Some of the kids had some really neat experiances.

Cab Ride

We started to get tired from walking, so we took a few cab rides. Even for short distances. It was a nice break.

James

Empire State Building

One of the many things we planned on doing was going up the Empire State Building, but there just wasn't enough time to do it all in one trip. At least we got to go up the Sears Tower.

Grand Central Station

We took a 45 min Train ride to Manhattan, NY. That way we could park in a safe place AND ride a train. The only thing was that we misunderstood the lady when she told us how long the train would take. When we got on the train and started going and then realized that it would take 45 min each way we about went crazy, but it was too late to turn back. We could've driven it in less than half the time. But it was fun anyway to take a train ride along the Hudson.

New York

Me with my pal Rupert. This was Rupert's Hello Deli by the Ed Sullivan Theatre, David Letterman Show.

Statue of Liberty.

Yet another thing I wish we had more time to have done - Ride the ferry out to the Statue of Liberty. This is now the 3rd time I've been here without going up to the top. I did go out on the ferry once before though but I didn't get off at Liberty Island.

Hot

There were times on this trip that we were so hot we nearly froze to death. The AC didn't work in our van and it made some parts very miserable. Funny thing is that I remember all the fun from the trip and I have alredy fogotten how miserable hot it would get. "Speak for yourself" Audrey will say as soon as she reads this.

Long Island

We found lots of little crabs over by the rocks. It was nice to cool off. Except that it was alreay late in the afternoon and the beach knew we were comming, so it cooled off quickly and had a cold brease blowing while we were there. But being cold didn't stop the kids from having a blast on the beach. Just about the only 2 times that it wasn't totally hot were the 2 times we got near water. (here and Niagra).

At Long Beach NY

Long Beach NY

Megan spent a long time gathering lots of shells.

Ground Zero

My Cousin Johnny lives only a couple blocks away from the Twin towers. Jacob, David and Me Visited him. We got to his place at about 9:00 at night and chatted till 1:00 am and then as we were getting ready to go he said, 'ey ya wanna see ground zero? and so we walked the few blocks of lower Manhattan till about 2:00am and took a tour while he told me lots of things he experianced around there during 9-11. He also taught me a lot about the buildings in NY. My Uncle, cousins and relatives were involved either directly or inderectly with building a huge part of NY. My uncle built 2 of the large bridges that cross over to Manhattan.

Washington D.C. temple

Lincoln Memorial

Our Hotel was only a few blocks away from the White House, so we walked all over DC. Jacob, Megan and me went through the Capital Building and saw Regans Casket. We arrived in DC at about 11:00pm and got in line by about 1:00am and stood in line untill 6:00 am, to see it.

D.C. was soooooooooo hot that we ran our errands during the day, and went to the DC temple, and then toured DC at night. Here we are in front of Lincoln Memorial. It was about 2:00 am, and we were miserably hot. We couldn't have survived it during the day with the kids. Besides, we were already quite worn out from traveling.
